Cunina, Roman Goddess
of Infants
Cunina
is the Roman Goddess of Infants. She was created for the IBDC Christmas
Charity Auction. All the proceeds went to a charity for missing and
abused children. Since "children" was the them of the auction, I
decided to create Cunina. According to legend, she was one of three
Roman Goddess sisters who were charged with the protection of children.
Cunina was the sister in charge of infants, especially those sleeping in
their cradle. Her gown was created from a sheer white material, and
adorned with gold bugle and rocaille beads. There's a golden heart
in the center of the bodice. Although they are not shown in the pictures,
on her feet she wears golded sandles to match her golden bracelet and circlet.
In her hand she holds a bottle of fairy dust to sprinkle on the sleeping
babes, ensuring a safe night's sleep and sweet dreams!!
